More games to come

PopCap has decided to shift its market position a little and try to get a more game oriented crowd interested in its offerings. The first move they are going to make is to get some of their games on the Nintendo DS. And what better game to lead the charge than the very successful PC and iPod game Peggle.

Q Entertainment has a vast experience in developing games with interesting gameplay mechanics and minimal graphics, with titles like Lumines, Meteos and Rez HD linked to its name.

Shuji Utsumi, who is the Chief Executive Officer of Q, has stated that "We've always incorporated casual game elements into our console and handheld games, and now we have an opportunity to bring our gaming sensibilities and expertise to the DS version of Peggle, and make a very novel 'cross-over' game for all ages".

The entire control scheme of the game will be reworked for the Nintendo DS, to rely more on the stylus control mechanics and on the touchscreen. Q is also saying that it plans to add more levels to the game, making sure that the players getting the DS port get as much new content as possible. The game will most likely have a 29.95 dollar price tag.

PopCap is also preparing other Nintendo DS games for North American launches. One of them is Amazing Adventures: The Forgotten Ruins, a hidden object adventure that throws the player into the heart of an ancient and forgotten civilization with a terrifying secret, while another one is Mystery P.I.: Portrait of a Thief, which relies on object spotting to guide you through an adventure reminiscent of Sherlock Holmes novels. The Nintendo DS versions of the games will each have 9 new exclusive locations, adding to the 18 missions of the original versions. The games are expected to have a retail price of 19.95 dollars on release date, which is set for early in winter.
