Had that fatal car accident in Paris ten years ago not taken place, Princess Diana would have celebrated her 46th birthday yesterday. But princes William and Harry decided that their mother was going to have a celebration. Months of preparation paid in full last night as the new Wembley Stadium hosted the mother of all birthday parties.

Elton John was first on stage, followed by princes William and Harry. The second and third in line to the throne reminded the 60,000 in attendance that the concert is about what their mother loved in this world: music, dancing, charities, not forgetting her family and friends. After wishing everybody an "awesome time", the two boys introduced Diana's favorite band, Duran Duran.

Among the many performers that took the stage during the six hours of celebrations in honor of Diana, certain names stand out in the crowd. Fergie, Nelly Furtado, Kanye West, Bryan Ferry, Pharell Williams, Tom Jones, Take That and Rod Stewart. P. Diddy had one of his best performances with a renewed version of "I'll be missing you". Diana's love for dancing was showcased by The English National Ballet. During the intermissions between the performances, the audience was treated to short videos of Diana's countless charities.

The two princes took the stage once again to thank everyone who made the concert a reality. William added that this is the way that his mother would have wanted to be remembered.

The area around Wembley was jammed by security after two car bombs were found in central London and another explosion occurred at the Glasgow airport. The cream of the crop that attended the concert last night, alongside the selection of pop stars, made Wembley the most appealing terrorist target on the face of the planet. This is why the stadium was only three quarters full. However, the show enjoyed some 500 million viewers worldwide.

This event had some very serious competition as the pop calendar is packed with star events. Just five days from now, we will witness "Live Earth" - The 24-hour-long concert, staged by environmentalist Al Gore.
