Microsoft is not the only company responsible for the slow Windows 8 uptake, says Acer

Sales of Windows 8 remain slow for the time being, as most users seem to be expecting Windows Blue, the first major refresh of the current operating system that’s expected to hit the market this summer.

Of course, Microsoft has often been blamed for this disappointing sales performance of Windows 8, but Acer’s chairman believes that the Redmond-based technology giant isn’t the only one responsible for this slow uptake.

Even though he had previously criticized Microsoft for Windows 8 and its efforts to step into the hardware market, JT Wang, chairman of Acer, has adopted a much friendlier attitude, showing support for the software giant and its products.

Wang told DigiTimes that Microsoft is not the only company to be blamed for the Windows 8 sales, as the entire ecosystem is at fault for the fact that many users prefer to stay away from the new OS.

And it pretty much makes sense, given the fact that Microsoft has often called for PC manufacturers to create more touch-capable devices and new computers running its new Windows 8.

Sources familiar with the matter previously revealed that Steve Ballmer and other high-profile executives from the Redmond campus had criticized the hardware industry for its slow reaction to the Windows 8 launch, claiming that the lack of devices that could run Microsoft’s new operating system was the main reason for the disappointing sales performance.

If we are to trust Microsoft, on the other hand, everything is going according to plan when it comes to Windows 8, with early sales in line with the ones recorded by Windows 7 after launch.

The funny thing is that Microsoft executives refuse to provide us with updated sales figures, but continue to reiterate that Windows 8’s performance follows the same ascending trend like Windows 7 three years ago.

In the meantime, everybody in the industry blasts Windows 8 with every single occasion.
