OK, so you have or just have bought a house which has a swimming pool but you definitely don't like to swim. Neither do you want to have three trucks of earth filling up the pool so you can use the ground for
something else. What to do?

Some Wisconsin pool-owners, much like in the situation above decided that they could learn to love the pool... as it was transformed in a multimedia home cinema! They simply drained and dried the premise, then nicely carpeted the floor and walls while leaving intact the slant bottom so the new place would better resemble a stadium-like theater.

Before (somehow, still a pool)

On the lowest floor, the owners have installed a huge couch, perfect for lingering around with your beloved and why not, having chips and beer with your close friends while the upper "deck" has two three-seat groups. As the walls of the former pool were made of concrete, any speaker placement was rather impossible so the movie-swimmers went for some Klipsch standing speakers, wired (like everything else, actually) through the pool's plumbing network.

After (definitely, one cool theater)

The screen was not a TFT/LCD as you may have thought: since the distance between the spectators and the screen was rather big, the owners went for a Draper projector screen fastened with a ircraft cabling to the ceiling and the pool's edge. It is also the ceiling which became the support for a Marantz video projector. Everything was then wired to the "heart" of the system, the proper audio/video "center" at the back of the room.

Finally, the windows, walls and other structural reinforcement elements received draperies such as to definitely change the overall atmosphere and feel of the whole place. All the electronic work has been carried out by the Madison,Wisconsin-based True Aspect company.

Even if such a change of destination for such a space may seem a little eccentric, you'll have to agree that it's better to have a home theater you go to often than a swimming pool you never enter at all.
