Finally, the series is getting what fans have been screaming for since day one

This is the kind of news Gran Turismo fans were really waiting to see. Forget about the 1080p and 60 frames per second, everyone knows that PS3 gamers won't have their Gran Turismo 5 any other way, but for Kazunori Yamauchi, head of Polyphony Digital, to boast out saying that the popular driving/racing simulator will feature damage...

Finally, the Gran Turismo series is getting the last touch it needed to make it the best racing sim ever. The news comes via Gamersquad.com which posts the following: "Just one of the sites reporting as much is German technology website Heise Online. It writes that Kazunori Yamauchi, the head of Polyphony Digital, developer of the Gran Turismo series, noted that hitting opponents or objects on the side of the courses will have a visible impact on the players' car."

According to the same source, Yamauchi also confirmed that Polyphony Digital has also removed the game's extensive license acquisition phase.

So, for how long have you been waiting to have damage in Gran Turismo? Some may even say: "Right from the beginning!" I'll bet some even gave up on the game (a few of course) just because it didn't feature damage.

Poliphony did say something about damage in Gran Turismo 4, but as the game was released, you could still do a best 10th lap on Test Course even when literally stuck to the left wall. Well, if you're a Gran Turismo fan, you know what I'm talking about.

However, if you have been paying attention when reading Yamauchi's statement, you will have noticed that the man described damage as "a visible impact on the players' car." He doesn't say anything about damage to the inner and outer parts of the car and I'm guessing there won't be any. Why? Again, if you're a fan, you can imagine what "impact" that would have on the 24 hour run on Nurburgring, for example.

At least it's good to know that cheaters will not go unharmed...
