I know that not all of you have original versions of the games you play. Many of you download them from torrent sites and then burn them using your PC. It is not my role here to judge you, but I have to inform you that burning copies of video games is illegal.

This was found out by a 31 year-old man in Yate, South Gloucestershire, who got arrested last week because of a copyright related felony. The Avon and Somerset Police officers accompanied by an ELSPA investigator raided the man's dwelling, and found over 1000s PlayStation 2 and Xbox illegally copied games.

Besides these pirated games, the authorities found three separate computer systems rigged for mass duplication and eight hard drives filled with illegal content. They also discovered some counterfeit inlay sleeves for the discs, scanned covers of games, some printers and scanners and counterfeit face labels.

After this big bust, the authorities have started boasting as Michael Rawlinson, managing director of ELSPA, declared that the theft of computer and video game software and any other multimedia product by copyright is illegal and has a harmful impact on both local businesses and communities.

According to Neil Derrick, Senior Enforcement Officer, South Gloucestershire Council Trading Standards, the institution that he represents is very pleased with the results of the raid, and - based on the evidence - they will press charges.
