In one of the most endearing items of video evidence attesting the humanity of police officers, a squad stops during a car chase to help a family of ducks cross the street.

The Portland cops in the patrol car captured the whole thing on their dashcam, and the incident was posted by the station on YouTube. At the time, they were trying to catch a speeding driver.

"Portland Police Traffic Officer Mark James attempts to catch up to a traffic violator," the video title reads.

According to Huffington Post, the cop mobile was in hot pursuit of a dangerous criminal who was driving at 52mph (83kph) in a 35mph (56kph) area.

Officer Mark James can even be seen getting out of the car just to mode the operation along and make sure that all the ducklings are safe and sound.
