Police are trying to get a warrant for Tiger Woods’ medical records in relation to the recent car crash

Golfer Tiger Woods was involved in a serious one-vehicle crash over the weekend, when he drove his SUV onto a neighbor’s lawn, smashed into a fire hydrant and then into a tree. He was taken to hospital with multiple lacerations on his face, lacerations that he supposedly sustained in the crash – but the police don’t completely rule out the possibility that they may have been inflicted by Woods’ wife, Elin Nordegren, TMZ says.

The possibility that the crash was actually the result of a domestic issue was revealed as early as Saturday morning, when it emerged that Woods himself told friends after the crash that he had not been hurt in it. Instead, Elin beat him with his own golf club, he said, the same one she claimed to have used to get him out of the wreckage. Now, police documents say that there was no blood on the wheel of the car, while Elin herself slightly changed her story a bit, which only makes it more likely that she might have been lying from the start.

“Sources tell TMZ the Florida Highway Patrol is now focusing on obtaining a search warrant – allowing them to seize medical records from the hospital that treated Tiger Woods – in an attempt to determine if the wounds Woods sustained are consistent with a car accident or domestic violence. We’re told authorities believe they can show probable cause a crime was committed, a necessary step in obtaining a warrant,” TMZ says. As of now, Woods has repeatedly refused to be interviewed by authorities, with his lawyer telling officers he is still in much pain.

“One big piece of evidence showing probable cause... sources tell us Tiger’s wife, Elin Nordegren, told FHP troopers she went looking for Tiger in a golf cart, came upon the accident and then used a golf club to break the window to gain entry. That’s a very different story from what she first told Windemere cops shortly after the accident – she never mentioned a golf cart. Nordegren told Windemere police she had walked out of her house, saw the crash, went back inside to get a golf club and returned to the vehicle,” TMZ further informs.

As we also reported over the weekend, the official line so far is that, somehow, Woods lost control of his car and entered on his neighbor’s lawn. Elin heard the noise caused by the crash, ran outside of the house and saw it. She then ran back in and returned with a golf club that she used to smash the window of the Escalade and drag Woods out. The police investigation is currently underway to establish the cause of the crash, as well as the exact course of events.
