Back in July, the authorities discovered a skimmer device connected to an ATM at a Chase Bank branch in West Hills California, which they believe it may have been created using a 3D printer.

Brian Krebs came in the possession of some pictures representing the device and as it turns out, the skimmer is very well built to replicate the card acceptance slot of this particular financial institution.

The gadget, designed to copy all the data from the credit cards that go through it, is cleverly made to incorporate all the necessary components, including a miniature camera that records the PINs entered by bank customers when performing transactions and a flash memory for storing the stolen data.

The malicious apparatus was discovered after a bank customer noticed something fishy at the ATM he was using and reported it to the police.

Individuals are advised to check an ATM before performing transactions, keeping in mind that most of these fraud operations are set up in secluded locations.
