The UK Metropolitan Police reveals that officers have arrested 6 former employees of the News of the World (NOTW) newspaper. It’s believed that the suspects intercepted telephone voicemails during 2005 to 2006.

According to Scotland Yard, this is a separate conspiracy than the one they’ve been investigating as part of Operation Weeting.

The six suspects – three men and three women – are journalists or former journalists. They’re being interviewed at police stations in Cheshire and London, while several addresses are being searched.

The Guardian reports that two of the arrested journalists currently work for The Sun.

Investigators will attempt to contact the victims of these individuals. However, in the meantime, they urge all those who believe are victims of these crimes to contact the police at operationweeting@met.police.uk.
