When you hear somebody say Polaroid, you probably automatically think of cameras and photographs. Well, it appears the company is jumping on the tablet bandwagon again.

Polaroid already introduced a Kids Tablet at the CES 2013 and now it has decided to push a successor for it. Sadly, they keep clinging to the same uninspiring name, so we’re going to see the Kids Tablet 2 appear on the market soon.

Since this is a kiddie slate don’t expect it to feature the most advanced specs. But what Polaroid has added for this model should prove to be enough for a regular kid.

The company has packed a 7-inch display with a 1024 x 600 pixel resolution. Power comes from a 1.6GHz dual-core Cortex A9 processor coupled with 1GB of RAM. 8GB of storage are provided but that can be increased via the microSD card.

Polaroid will slip in a front-facing camera, but there’s no mention if the snapper will feature some of the famous Polaroid technology.

The company is bundling some extra goodies as well, consisting of 70 ebooks and apps worth around $100 / €74.

Kids will be thrilled to discover publications as Disney, Marvel and Cartoon Network onboard the product.

With the new interactive slate, children will be able to read comic books detailing the adventures of their favorite heroes like Spiderman, Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk.

Little ones can also play exciting games with characters from Toy Story, Wreck-It-Ralph and Cars.

Like most child slates on the market today, the tablet will allow parents to control what their kids have access to. The Polaroid App Shop provides a safe environment where children and their parents can choose between age appropriate free or paid apps.

The slate is protected by bumpers, so as a parent you won’t have to worry about your child damaging the device.

The slate comes at a super affordable price of $149 / €110 and will become available through Toys R Us.
