Sometimes, it takes more than a famous name to make a good product

Although the only connection between today's Polaroid Corporation and the technology that made it famous is the name (as the original company went bankrupt a few years back), the reformed firm has used the brand relatively well, rolling out several digital photography-related products over the past years. And this is also the case with the company's latest announcement, namely the XSJ-00750M, a digital photo frame which provides relatively basic functions, as well as a few customization options.

The display is the most important part of any digital frame, but, unfortunately, one can expect only so much from a 7-incher. Thus, the XSJ-00750M supports a maximum resolution of around 480 x 234 pixels, sports a 400:1 contrast ratio, a brightness level of 250 cd/m2, as well as a 16:9 image aspect ratio.

Much in the same way as most other digital photo frames available on the market, the new model from Polaroid will also support several interesting transition effects (up to 10), as well as customizable slideshow settings (3-60 second intervals). The device also provides a zoom function (2X - 16X) and allows users to play some music while sliding through the photos (supports both JPEG and MP3 formats).

The digital frame displays pictures stored on memory cards (SD, MMC, CF, MS, MS PRO, MS Duo, SD, MMC, CF, MS, MS PRO, MS Duo, via the built-in card reader), but it can also be hooked up to a host computer via a mini-USB interface.

Polaroid's photo frame measures 252 mm x 183 mm x 38 mm and weighs around 714 grams (414 grams the body plus an extra 300 grams for each particular frame). And since we're on the subject of frames, it's worth mentioning the fact that this device comes in four flavors: acrylic white, orange, black and brownwood.

The Polaroid Japan Corporation has provided no relevant information regarding the photo frame's pricing, but this thing should retail for under $200, because, after all, we're talking about an entry-level model.
