Polarbit, the game development studio best known for the Raging Thunder racing game for iPhone, has announced the release of its latest title for the iPhone and iPod Touch: Armageddon Squadron. The 3D shoot’em-up / flight simulator is available for immediate download via the iTunes App Store.

Armageddon Squadron has players trying their wings with the best-known aircraft of the WWII era, in a variety of missions and settings. Bombing and strafing raids against facilities and convoys, protection of ground troops against enemy aircraft, and dogfights against enemy aces are just a few of the mission objectives to be encountered in Armageddon Squadron.

Smooth accelerometer controls make flying a joy, says Polarbit, while the game's 3D visuals can rival anything hitherto seen in the AppStore, according to the now-renowned developer.

“Armageddon Squadron represents a slight departure for us in terms of gameplay style, compared to Raging Thunder, WaveBlazer and Crash Nitro Kart,” said Anders Nilsson, co-founder and CTO at Polarbit. “It proves beyond any doubt that Polarbit is capable of delivering top-notch games, regardless of genre or game type.”

Given that Armageddon Squadron currently lacks multiplayer game types, Polarbit insists on pointing out that both local WiFi and online functionality are due for inclusion in an upcoming release. Thus, iPhone and iPod touch users are encouraged to get the app without fear of missing out on anything important. Needless to mention, updates to Armageddon Squadron will be free of charge.

Polarbit AB, is a game and middleware developer focusing on high-end mobile and handheld devices, hence the company's interest in Apple's iPhone. Founded in 2005, Polarbit only needed this long to acquire the experience, dedication and uncompromising attitude needed to develop quality titles. The company's latest game can be downloaded from the App Store using the first link below. By using the second link, iPhone and iPod touch users can browse more games developed by Polarbit.
