After dominating for a few weeks the Japanese game charts, Nintendo's Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon Pearl have been knocked off by Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi.

Originally published by Bandai as DragonBall Z: Sparking, DBZ Budokai Tenkaichi is based on the popular animated series Dragon Ball Z. The game features over 90 different characters from the TV DBZ animated series and movies.

The game features 5 different game modes like Evolution Z, Ultimate Battle, World Tournament, Z Battle Gate and Character Illustrations.

The Namco Bandai beat 'em-up DBZ game sold in its debut week over 325,589 units. The second entry of the week was also published by Namco Bandai, but for the PSP. Gundam sold 155,634 units this week.

As regarding games consoles sales in Japan, the Nintendo DS was the best selling one with 124, 137 units sold, PlayStation 2 ranking second with 28,264. I'm sure that when the PS3 comes out, it will top the console games sales. The PSP sold again just 21,050 units but managed to sell more than Game Boy Advance which numbered 2,101 units. Microsoft's Xbox 360 follows the trail with 2,101 unit sales.
