Players are at the moment encouraged not to save in Lumiose City

Nintendo has finally acknowledged the crash bug in Pokemon X & Y that affects gamers who save in Lumiose City and it seems that an official fix for the game might be deployed in a few days using the eShop service.

The team is offering a map that shows which areas of the location should be avoided when saving, highlighted in blue in the attached image, first seen via NeoGAF.

The problem seems to be pretty random and leads to the creation of a corrupted save that locks up the 3DS when loaded up and renders all progress made impossible to recover.

It’s unclear whether the coming patch for Pokemon X & Y will be backwards compatible or if gamers will need to start a new game to benefit from it.

The new title in the long-running series has managed to sell 4 million units in its first four days on the market.
