The development team at GameFreak and publisher Nintendo are apparently exploring the option of delivering downloadable content packs for their upcoming Pokemon X & Y.

The information comes from a roundtable event that was attended by IGN, where the two entities talked about the possibility.

Fans of the series might also be able to import saved games from previous titles in the franchise, which might open up a new set of development options for their creatures.

Pokemon X & Y is designed to allow players to explore a new zone of the world with three new starting creatures to use and evolve.

The entire game is created using fully 3D polygonal graphics, the first in the franchise to use the tech.

Pokemon X & Y will be out on October 12 of this year on the Nintendo 3DS.
