The team wants to deliver quality content for a small price

Tetsuya Watanabe, one of the leading developers who worked on Pokemon X & Y, says that the Game Freak team currently has no plans to introduce paid downloadable content for its game because it would destroy its core ideas.

The director is quoted by NeoGAF as saying that, “The reason being, is because it’s one of things that could ‘ruin the worldview’ of Pokémon.”

Original series creator Satoshi Tajiri instituted the policy and it seems that neither the developer nor publisher Nintendo has plans to change it.

The recent Pokemon X & Y has already sold more than 4 million copies in one week after launch, showing that the franchise can generate a lot of revenue by just delivering the basic package to players.

Nintendo is also making money using a variety of spin-off products featuring the most popular Pokemon characters.
