Nintendo has had great success with the DS handheld and its variants on the United States market, a fact confirmed by the 1.7 million consoles that were sold in November, a new record for sales of a portable gaming device.
And now the company has revealed the titles set to arrive in the first half of 2010 for the platform, including the fact that
Pokemon Heart Gold and Soul Silver will be released on March 14, after topping the sales chart in Japan during this fall. The games are updated versions of classic Pokemon releases, complete with better graphics, touch controls and some new game areas.
Another big release coming in March is WarioWare D.I.T, which is designed around the idea of the players themselves creating mini games from scratch, using a library of objects and mechanics. The idea will be to actually share these mini games with other players, either through the Wi-Fi Connection or via broadband. Nintendo is also planning on introducing to the United States the role playing series Glory of Heracles designed by Kazushige Nojima, who has also worked on Final Fantasy.
Disney Interactive Studios is set to release Sonny With a Chance and an Alice in Wonderland videogame during the spring, while Capcom will put out Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth on February 16. 2K Sports will fill the sports niche by launching Major League Baseball 2K10 in March and Atlus is preparing Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey for March 10.
Meanwhile, SEGA is getting ready to put out Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing during March and, at an undisclosed date, a collection of classic Sonic titles. During the same period, Ubisoft will continue its Imagine range of games and Nintendo is also promising a variety of DSiWare releases.
