Gamers will be able to use a new Global Link designed for X & Y

Developer GameFreak and publisher Nintendo are announcing that a number of services linked to the original and the sequel for Pokemon Black & White will be shut down after the launch of the next title in the series and no later than January 14 of next year.

The Dream World will be taken offline on October 12, as will new user registration, according to a translated announcement from NeoGAF.

On December 10 of this year, Game Sync will no longer be available for fans.

Pokemon Black & White and its sequel will also lose GTS tracking and Rating Mode for random matches on January 14 of next year.

At the same time, services like Memory Link via Wi-Fi, Musical and Pokedex Skin will also be taken offline.

A number of other online features, including Free Rating in the random matchup, will still be available to players of the older titles.

Pokemon X & Y will be launched worldwide on October 12 on the 3DS.
