Point of View may be best known for its graphics cards, but it has been doing its best to establish a presence on the tablet market too.

As it happens, the company has completed the development of a new such product, one that supposedly runs on a Cortex A8 CPU.

Going by the report, we think it is a single-core chip, since only its clock speed of up to 1.2 GHz is specified.

At any rate, the processor is backed by the MALI-400 GPU (graphics processing unit) and 1 GB of DDR3 RAM (random access memory).

In other words, POV's ProTab IPS shouldn't have any problem when running casual games and HD video playback.

That said, the amount of built-in storage might leave people a bit disappointed, or at least nonplussed: 8 GB.

Fortunately, there is a way to escape the impossibility of carrying anything besides the Android 4.0 operating system and a few files: a card slot.

Indeed, like any self-respecting tablet out there, POV's ProTab IPS has a microSD card slot that can add up to 32 GB more.

The spec list goes on with 802.11bgn WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1, a mini USB port, mini HDMI 1.4, a G-sensor and two cameras (a 2-megapixel camera at the back and a 0.3-megapixel cam on the front).

All these parts are hidden beneath the 9.7-inch LCD and crammed inside an aluminum package measuring 242 x 189 x 9 mm (9.52 x 7.44 x 0.35 inches).

Speaking of which, the display has an aspect ratio of 4:3 and the native resolution of 1,024 x 768 pixels, plus capacitive touch support.

Point of View has this thing listed in Europe for less than 300 Euro. That's about $393, according to exchange rates, but if the company does start selling the ProTab IPS in the US, the tag will probably be different, lower even.
