Given the fact Windows Phone 8 does not support podcasts, the need for third-party apps that offer this feature is rising.

One such application, Podcatcher has just been updated with several bug fixes for Windows Phone 8, as well as lots of improvements that make the application more stable.

With the latest version of the application, users will be able to subscribe to podcasts that require authentication or import their subscriptions from gPodder.net.

Other changes included in this update are detailed below:

- Replaced player pivot view with play history view for current and recent episodes; - Replaced one action button in episodes with two separate buttons for play/stream and download; - Added a view to the subscriptions that shows downloaded episodes; - Fixed bug so users do not lose download queue after restart; - Other UI improvements.

Podcatcher for Windows Phone is now available for download for $1.5/ €1 via Windows Phone Store and it should be fully compatible with all devices running Windows Phone 7.5 and 8. Check it out here.
