After carrying out further tests on iDevices loaded with iOS 5.1.1, Chronic Dev Team’s Pod2g has confirmed untethered jailbreak support for the very first iPad models released by Apple.

“iPad1,1 and iPad2,1 tested with iOS 5.1.1,” reads a tweet signed Pod2g. “Untethering worked,” he added.

Previous tests yielded similar results with the iPhone 4S which, according to the hacker, is seeing battery life improvements following the 5.1.1 update: “4S battery management seems really better with 5.1.1. Thank you Apple,” Pod2g wrote.

Apple’s iPhone 4S has been the subject of quite a few discussions regarding battery life under iOS 5. Although several iDevices experienced battery drainage issues with iOS 5, it was the iPhone 4S that saw the most significant impact.

Has anyone else experienced improved battery life following iOS 5.1.1? Sound off in the comments.
