Moving forward with the Samsung product releases, the company has revealed a 5.8-inch media player, called rather unimaginatively Galaxy Player 5.8.
We won't really fault the company for the name though. Galaxy is a long-standing brand and including the screen size in the name is basically tradition now.
That said, this is no ordinary media player. Instead, it is a pocketable gadget with a 5.8-inch LCD whose native resolution is 960 x 540 pixels.
We use “pocketable” loosely here, since the player won't easily fit in the compartments of non-baggy pants.
That said, the product relies on a central processor (not specified, unfortunately) and 16 GB or 32 GB of NAND flash storage space.
There is a microSD card slot as well, plus a VGA camera on the front and a 2,500mAh battery (stronger than necessary, or would be if the display weren't there to eat the energy).
Finally, the Samsung Galaxy Player 5.8 runs the Android 4.0 operating system (OS).
