People who were wondering just how much longer they would have to wait before they could enjoy real GPS peace can finally breathe easy now that Location Based Technologies' PocketFinder GPS Personal Locator has started shipping.

The new device from Location Based Technologies might prove to be just what the doctor ordered, so to speak, for people who really like to keep tabs on things and friends.

Basically, the PocketFinder GPS Personal Locator is a small item which can be strapped to someone or something and then kept track of from anywhere.

More specifically, provided one has the partner application, one can know where the bearer of the GPS Locator is at any moment and from anywhere. The device can even hold 60+ days location history.

People can get updates in real-time and can read the data relayed by the PocketFinder on a web-enabled phone if they so wish.

Needless to say, any PC web browser can perform this task as well, even map all selected PocketFinder GPS Personal Locators (in case more than one is monitored) and survey them individually, even if the bearers are within as little as 10 feet of one another.

“Having our PocketFinder GPS Personal Locators sold by one of the world’s great retailers, Apple, is an honor as well as a strong statement about the superior performance and ease of use our customers are looking for in a location device,” stated Dave Morse, CEO of Location Based Technologies.

One of the features that parents will find useful is the option to program the Locator to send alerts based on pre-established zones (SMS, push notification e-mail, etc).

Finally, the product is waterproof and rugged, since it needs to withstand any weather conditions that the human body can cope with.

US and Canadian Apple Stores should have the gadget up for sale at a price of $149. which is the equivalent of 107.77 Euro.

Two months of service are included in the initial purchase, which subsequent one-month charges being of $12.95 (9.36 Euro).
