PocketBook is a lot better known for its eReaders than tablets, but this hasn’t stopped the company from announcing a 7-inch slate that runs the Android 2.3.7 Gingerbread OS.

The PocketBook A7, as this is called, is actually positioned by the company as a “multimedia reader,” so it comes with support for a wide range of eBook formats including the popular EPUB,PDF, FB2, and TXZT to name just a few.

Hardware wise we get a 1024x600 pixel display, 512MB of RAM, 4GB of storage space and a 1 GHz TI OMAP 3621 processor, so this is not the most impressive 7-inch tablet around, but it does come with Android Market support, which is definitely a plus.

A microSDHC card slot and a 2MP front-facing camera round up the specs list, but unfortunately no info about its availability or price has been made public.
