Pocketbook is a well-known manufacturer of e-Readers and now the company is ready to unveil a fresh device that features a new type of ePaper display, said to be half the weight and the thickness of a typical LCD.

The company has implemented the so-called Fina screen (designed by E Ink) to be implemented in tablet or e-Reader type of devices that sport a larger screen.

Their newly released effort, the PocketBook CAD Reader features a 13.3-inch display and is powered by a 1GHz dual-core CPU coupled with 2GB of RAM. The device comes equipped with 16GB of storage, so users will have space for saving their work onboard.

The CAD Reader also offers Wi-Fi, 3G function and runs Android 4.0.4. Pocketbook has added a pretty impressive 8000 mAh battery inside to keep the device pumped as long as it is necessary.

The new Reader is actually the first device to take advantage of the newly released E-Ink technology. On top of not adding bulk to the overall tablet, the technology has been especially designed to display images and drawings made in programs like Autocad and Autodesk.

Indubitably, this is a device aimed at professionals activating in fields like architecture and engineering, so it comes pre-installed with a bunch of free and paid CAD-applications. The CAD reader brings both touch screen and Wacom digitizer with stylus support.

Head of Research Development for PocketBook, Dmitriy Shemet introduced the new product.

“Our goal was to develop a device to be used on construction sites. We created a highly portable large format display device with a rugged and weatherproof case that could hold all the CAD drawing a team needs.”

“This makes designs available virtually any place and anytime. We choose the E Ink Fina 13.3-inch display because it has exactly the right properties we were looking for to develop PocketBook CAD Reader.”

“The PocketBook CAD Reader delivers a new user experience for architects and specialists in construction trades allow them work on sites.”

So far we don’t know anything about pricing, but the PocketBook CAD Reader will be showed off on December 5, at the Audodesk University software conference in Las Vegas.
