Waterproof tablets aren't exactly a novelty. For example, we have just seen Sony launch its latest tablet, the Xperia Z2 Tablet which comes bundling the above-mentioned property.

Anyway, most eBook readers out there aren't waterproof, so taking your digital reading device out at the beach or at the pool isn't exactly the greatest idea if you want to keep using it.

Not with the new PocketBook Aqua, which, as the name suggests, is capable of surviving being emerged in up to 1 m / 3.2 feet of water for a total of 30 minutes (via The-Digital-Reader).

PocketBook might be tapping into a real niche here by providing customers with one of the few eReaders to withstand the test of water. The device is said to be IP57 certified, so you can read without a care in the world, even while you’re taking a relaxing bath.

In terms of specs, the Pockebook Aqua has a 6-inch touchscreen that offers 4GB of internal storage for books, documents and everything else good in terms of eReading. The device is quite light, weighing a meager 170 g / 0.3 lbs and will become available somewhere in March.

There’s no information about the pricing specifications and which markets outside Europe will be seeing the arrival of the eReader.
