Most of the time, news about poaching revolves around either elephants or rhinos being killed by poachers. Still, it seems that sometimes the tables do turn.

Long story short, it appears that one elephant inhabiting a national park in Zimbabwe recently attacked one such hunter and killed him.

More precisely, it is being said that the animal trampled the illegal hunter to death.

According to Tree Hugger, the elephant turned against the poacher just as the latter was trying to gun the animal down.

The incident reportedly occurred in the Charara safari area.

By the looks of it, the man killed by this elephant entered said protected area at some point between April 19 and 26.

Both he and a 29-year-old fellow poacher did so for the sole purpose of killing such animals and getting their tusks, hence their carrying rifles despite their not having a license for such weapons.

It appears that the 29-year-old accompanying this hunter was arrested by local authorities at some point before the latter's body was discovered by authorities.

The same source informs us that the hunter believed to have been trampled to death by the elephant was named Solomon Manjoro.

His partner, who now finds himself in police custody and has even made an appearance in court, is named Noluck Tafuruka.

Rumor has it that one other man who also took part in these poaching activities is also facing legal charges on account of his illegally possessing a firearm.

For the time being, local authorities lack any information concerning the whereabouts of the elephant responsible for this hunter's death.

As reported on several occasions, poaching constitutes a serious threat to the long-term survival of both elephants and rhinos worldwide.

These animals are tracked down and killed in order for hunters to collect their tusks or horns and sell them on the black market.
