The fashion industry has often been accused of actively excluding anyone bigger than a size 14 from it not only with promoting only models that seem almost weightless from how thin they are, but also by not producing clothes for the plus sized women. Designer and fashion blogger Marie Denee will seek to remedy that by coming out with her own boutique, a press statement to Softpedia reads.

Known as The Curvy Fashionista in fashion circles on the Internet, Ms. Denee sees the opportunity of coming out with her own boutique as a means of telling all curvier women out there that they can’t and should never settle for whatever the fashion industry throws at them – which amounts to close to nothing most of the time. A woman’s style should never be defined by her looks but rather the other way around, Denee believes, which is why she has come up with the idea of creating a business that will offer plus-size women plenty to choose from.

“While many retailers are downsizing or removing their plus sized departments, other retailers are discontinuing anything above the size 14. The remaining centralized designers give few if any fashion forward options for their confident, classy, and curvy woman. This leaves the plus size woman lost to retail purgatory. All the while, many young, curvy women say they are belittled in stores, relegated to buying on-line – or ignored.” reads the statement on how Denee finally decided to cater for curvy women.

With the Marie Denee boutique, scheduled for a preview this month and to launch in September 2009, women of bigger sizes will have a wide range of options made available to them, while also being able to count on Denee’s expertise for tips. This means curvy women will also be able to purchase quality, upscale items without having to wait for the sales season or turn to the Internet to search for hours for just one item, the press statement further says.

“Marie Denee is an upscale contemporary on-line boutique that offers today’s fashion forward, curvy, confident, and chic plus size woman, a haven where she can confidently shop the latest designer fashions in her size, without sacrificing her desires for premium, fashion forward, and impeccably fit options. Marie Denee will feature lifestyle apparel and accessories from designers like Gayla Bentley, Kingley & Posh, Embody Denim by Natalie Wakeling, Melissa Masse, David Kahn Jeanswear, BGU and Amanda Uprichard, Oola Lingerie, Marie Melodie and many more.”
