Plextor has recently unveiled its truly pocket-sized PX-PPH60U and PX-PPH120U external hard disk drives weighing only 90g. The two drives sport storage capacities of 60GB and 120GB respectively, and are just 12mm thick, designed having in mind a credit card 90mm long and 62mm wide, making them fit for any pocket. The 1.8-inch drives connect through a USB interface, eliminating the need of extra cables or power adapters.

The two external-hard drives that come at about the size of a memory stick are the perfect option for both PC and Mac users who need extra storage capacity but feel that the fully-sized external solutions are not portable or feasible enough. The Plextor PX-PPH60U and PX-PPH120U drives are ideal for transporting photos, presentations, data, music and movies, while delivering a 480Mbps data transfer rate through the USB interface.

“The Plextor Pocket HDDs are incredibly useful, offering much more scope than memory sticks with the footprint of a credit card. The fast USB transfer is ideal for transporting multimedia and data files. They are perfect for both novice and enthusiast home users, audio/visual businesses such as photographers and marketing agencies - in fact anybody who needs a portable high reliability data solution,” said Rudy De Meirsman, Sales & Marketing Manager at Plextor Europe.

The two new Plextor pocket-sized PX-PPH60U and PX-PPH120U external hard disk drives include all the features a user seeking portability needs: they are very small, offer enough storage capacity, sport great transfer speeds, are bus-powered (requiring no external power supply), easy to install (simply Plug & Play) and very quiet. Moreover, they have a more than appealing design.

No pieces of information on price and availability have been disclosed yet, but the PX-PPH60U and PX-PPH120U external HDDs are expected to hit the market next month.
