Plextor Intros PX-B950SA Blu-Ray Disk Writer

Plextor revealed many optical drives over the years, so the PX-B950SA is just the latest in a long string of units.

Designed for desktops, the PX-B950SA is an internal Blu-ray writer (5.25-inch form factor) that communicates with motherboards via the SATA interface.

Single-layer BD-R disks are written at a speed of 12X, while dual-layer BD-R can run at up to 8X.

Additionally, single and double-layer BD-RE disks are scribed at 2X rates.

Needless to say, DVDs and CDs (and their many sub-formats, of course) are supported as well.

For those who want some specs, Plextor's PX-B950SA has 8MB cache and is bundled with the CyberLink BD Suite and PowerDVD.

Sales should already be underway, in Japan at least, for 11,980 JPY. According to exchange rates, that means $154 / 117.72 Euro.
