Plex users on iOS are encouraged to download the latest version of the media player, as it brings improved support for the universal transcoder on iOS 5, fixes for playback from older media servers, and more.

Plex lets you stream your music, videos, and photos from your home computers running Plex Media Server, as well as access content from channels for apps like Aperture, iTunes, and iPhoto.

It also supports fetching content from the likes of YouTube, Vimeo, and Revision3, and has a cool remote control feature for Plex Media Center.

In version 3.1.2, the issues involving playback from older media servers have been fixed, while the support for the universal transcoder on iOS 5 has been improved.

The universal transcoder is no longer disabled by default, and crashes involving certain server connections should no longer occur.

Detection of Wi-Fi iPad 2 (updated version) and iPad mini models has been corrected as well. Finally, the missing images bug in detail views (for queued/recommended content) is gone.
