Now available for Linux, Mac OS X, and Microsoft Windows

Plex, Inc. has announced earlier that a new version of its cross-platform and acclaimed Plex Media Server software has been released for all supported platforms, including GNU/Linux, Microsoft Windows, and Mac OS X.

Plex Media Server 0.9.12.3 is here to add official support for secure HTTP (HTTPS or HTTP over TLS) connections, as we now live in a modern world where security is of the essence. Also, there are numerous bugfixes and performance improvements, so read on for details.

When importing media from Apple's iTunes application, the popular media server software will no longer create duplicate playlists during the first scanning operation. Also, it addresses an issue with editing tags that contain some special characters or commas.

The reliability of online presence detection has been improved, some issues with the track mood have been fixed, a crash the occurred during startup because of corrupted cache files has been repaired, and an issue with some audio streams that could have crashed the DASH streaming function has been addressed.

Some Ubuntu Linux and Windows issues have been addressed

There is great news for Linux users too, as the localization now works correctly, a config path issue has been patched, and the systemctl tool won't be executed on Ubuntu installations that do non have the systemd init system.

Last but not least, manual installations of Python will no longer affect Plex Media Server for Windows users, the packaging of Plex for Western Digital has been improved, media files can now be analyzed on the fly if required, and the logging functionality has received performance improvements.
