Plex Inc. has updated its media player and media organizer app for iPhone and iPad, enhancing the reliability of server detection on local networks, while adding a lot more tweaks and fixes.

In this new release, Plex not only improved server detection on local networks, but also the server management interface, along with translations, playback of synced content with low-quality settings, AirPlay streaming, locally discovered server information, and more.

Playback of videos from old channels (e.g. iTunes) has been fixed, and the same goes for direct play of videos with 5.1 audio streams. Other areas where Plex made fixes are highlighted below.

• Companion features weren't working after sleeping & waking the device. • Companion was unable to connect to Plex for Windows 8. • Navigation control of Plex for Roku is now enabled when using companion ures. • Locally discovered server information was stored by the app & couldn't be removed. • On Deck & Recently Added now update correctly after playback.

To download Plex all you need is an iPhone or an iPad capable of running iOS 5.1.1. That and five bucks to spare, or €3.99.
