The Billboard Music Awards gala was a night full of successes, both in terms of music and of fashion. In addition to those few glorious moments in the true sense of the word, there were the inevitable trainwrecks and that's what we're here for. Janet's long awaited for performance was something of a flop: she did a m�lange of an oldie, 'Pleasure Principle' with a hit from her latest album, 'So Excited'. The latter is absolutely hot and I can easily count myself among those who loved it the first time they heard it. The first is, well, a classic so I imagine that everybody likes it. What was eventually performed on stage was not half that bad (hey, there were no wardrobe 'malfunctions'!), but it just failed to be convincing or enthralling. It didn't make me want to get off my chair and dance my ass off! That's about all I can say about what Janet sang Monday night... about what she wore, now, that's an entirely different story. Not to offend anyone's feelings, I will give Miss Jackson the benefit of the doubt and say that she has been having a very bad period, fashion-wise, for the last five months or so. But this is even worse than seeing her abs or her boobs splashed all over the place because, probably for the first time in her career, Janet tried to look like someone she is not. In other words, the 'Control' singer took something (like, a lot!) out of Victoria Beckham's looks and tried to pass it as her own. Sadly, it didn't work out: neither the hair-do (hair-don't, I would rather call it), nor the man-suit-resembling tight dress, with cuffs and small locks-like cufflinks at the wrists. Phew! All in all, I imagine people would have loved Janet more if she had dressed in her usual style. I mean, usually she can look pretty girlie and nice when she goes to such fancy events. That being said, would someone please make the scary lady go away?!
