Astronaut shares what playing a guitar on the ISS is really like

As a bass guitarist myself, I've started wondering about how one could play music aboard the International Space Station. How would the strings vibrate? How would the sound propagate? Fortunately, I have to imagine it no longer. An astronaut reveals his musical experiences in space.

Cmdr. Chris Hadfield, a Canadian Space Agency (CSA) astronaut, visited the station in 1995, and then again in 2001, and got the chance to play a custom-made Larrivée Parlor full-body acoustic guitar in zero-gravity. This video shows him explaining what that experience was like.

The astronaut will fly to space again this November, and will become the first Canadian ISS Commander in March 2013. He will lead Expedition 35 (November 2012 to May 2013). During that time, he plans to make some audio recordings of the ISS guitar, using a laptop and some mics.

I sincerely recommend seeing this video, especially if you're into music.
