Unity Technologies announced back in March that they were working on developing support for every PlayStation platform, in addition to Unity for PlayStation 3.

Their latest update, Unity 4.3, deploys Unity for Sony's PlayStation Vita handheld platform.

Licensed Unity developers will gain access to using some platform-specific Vita functionalities, such as motion sensors, dual analog sticks, rear touch pad and both front and rear cameras.

In addition to deploying their games for the PlayStation Vita, developers will be able to fully integrate all of the PlayStation Network features into their games, such as Friends, Trophies and Matching functionality.

The integration of Unity with the PS Vita means that licensed developers will not have to rewrite their Unity-based games from scratch, they only need to build and run them using the PS Vita devkit, once they are done.

Furthermore, developers can now create both 2D and 3D games with Unity 4.3, and gain access to the Mecanim native animation system, a powerful tool that will assist them in delivering powerful animations and visuals.

The first game developed in Unity for both the PlayStation 3 and the PlayStation Vita is Zoink!'s popular puzzle platformer Stick it to the Man.
