The recently titled PlayStation Vita, formerly known as the Next Generation Portable, might be released, in the UK at least, on November 4, according to a retailer listing.

Sony's PlayStation Vita portable console is looking to be a pretty big hit, as the upgraded hardware configuration allows it to display some very impressive graphics, as highlighted by games like Uncharted: Golden Abyss, which will be released for the device when it will actually be launched onto the market.

Sony has been extremely reluctant to talk about a release date for the Vita, but it seems that UK retailer ShopTo, via MCV, has spoiled the surprise, announcing a concrete release date of November 4, 2011, for the new handheld console, alongside recommended prices for the games that will be made for the Vita.

Alongside the release of the portable device at the beginning of November, the retailer also confirms 20 games to appear right on that day or shortly after that, including Uncharted: Golden Abyss, WipeOut 2048, Super Stardust Delta, Modnation Racers, LittleBigPlanet or the recently announced BioShock game.

All these titles currently cost a recommended retailer price of £39.99, which, when compared with the prices of Nintendo 3DS games that range between £34.99 and £39.99, sounds pretty accurate.

The PlayStation Vita's retail price was confirmed by Sony at E3 2011, with the console costing $249.99.

The launch date of the Vita, however, is still unknown, at least officially, with Sony trying to get it released at the end of the year.

According to a previous statement from Sony Computer Entertainment America boss Jack Tretton, the Vita will be out in at least one territory, probably Japan, by the end of the year.

It was rumored that the recent earthquakes and tsunami that affected Japan, including Sony's own manufacturing plants, affected its plans for the Vita's release, but the company denied this report, saying everything is going according to its initial strategy.
