The developer behind the WipeOut series, Sony Liverpool, has confirmed that for the PlayStation Vita portable platform, which is set to appear in early 2012, it is much easier to develop games than for any other PlayStation platform before it, including the PS3 or PSP.

WipeOut games have accompanied pretty much every Sony PlayStation device, as the Sony Liverpool studio worked with every console made by the Japanese company, bringing the sci-fi futuristic racing franchise onto all of them.

Now, with WipeOut 2048 scheduled to arrive on the PlayStation Vita next year, the Liverpool studio shared its experience with the new portable platform, highlighting that it was much easier to make a game for it than the PS3 or PSP.

"I think of all the PlayStations I've worked on, which is actually all of them, it's the easiest one to work with," said WipeOut 2048 Game Director Stuart Tilley to Edge magazine, via CVG. "The guys have given us a really good set of tools, allowing us to get up and running a lot quicker than we have previously, which is really good."

"We had a smaller team at the back end of last year that got working straight away on the game stuff rather than too much of the underlying tech, which allows us to really start getting the game in your hands as soon as possible."

Sony's PlayStation Vita is scheduled to receive quite a lot of games when it is eventually released besides WipeOut 2048, including Uncharted: Golden Abyss, Resistance: Burning Skies, and lots of smaller titles that were presented back at E3 2011 in June or Gamescom 2011 two weeks ago.

Considering the amount of power the device has, as well as Sony's efforts to differentiate it from other handheld gaming devices, like smartphones or tablets, not to mention the 'easy to develop for' nature, then the PlayStation Vita might see quite a lot of other games appear for it next year.
