PlayStation Vita Gets First Japanese Television Spot

The Japanese division of Sony has launched the television advertising campaign for the upcoming PlayStation Vita handheld with a teaser that seems to pave the way for even weirder advertisements.

The tag line of the spot can be translated as “The future of games is changing” but it is not clear what this has to do with the guy on the bicycle that dominates the video.

The PlayStation brand has a reputation for rather weird advertising efforts, with the recent Uncharted 3 launch promoted in Japan by a clip of Harrison Ford of Indiana Jones fame playing the Naughty Dog made adventure.

The PlayStation Vita is aimed squarely at the more hardcore gaming crowd and will show where dedicated mobile gaming can stand up to the assault of the smartphone legion.

The device will be released on December 17 in Japan and gamers in the West will get it during the month of February 2012.
