Sony has confirmed that its PlayStation Network online service has over 90 million users around the world.

The PSN offers all sorts of services to owners of various PlayStation devices like the PS3, PlayStation Portable, or the new PlayStation Vita, including access to the PlayStation Store, where games, add-ons and other things can be downloaded.

Now, after the pretty successful debut of the Vita, Sony has confirmed, via Develop, that the PSN’s user base has gone over the 90 million mark.

The company refrained from saying how many accounts are active, so it’s not likely that there are more than 90 million PS3/PSP/Vita owners out there.

Sony also declined to break down the number of users by region, so we can’t say for sure where the most PSN users are located.

Either way, it’s a pretty big accomplishment for the Japanese company, which continues to invest heavily in the PlayStation Network, while integrating it into its overarching Sony Entertainment Network suite of services.
