Sony has confirmed that it's going to take down the PlayStation Network online service for planned maintenance on April 15 until April 16, during which various services like the PS Store won't be available.

The PlayStation Network plays a key role for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita platforms, allowing owners of the two consoles to buy downloadable games as well as engage in multiplayer experiences.

Sadly, the company has confirmed that it will have to take down the PlayStation Network for planned maintenance on April 15, at 2pm GMT, until April 16, at 5am GMT, according to CVG.

During this time, various services like the PlayStation Store, the account management, and the registration feature won't be available.

PS3 or PS Vita owners who are logged in on the PSN will be able to continue playing online during the maintenance period.
