Sony has revealed that it will be taking down its PlayStation Network online service next week, more specifically on Thursday, March 1, in order to do some planned maintenance.

Sony’s been extremely busy in the last few weeks with the release of the PlayStation Vita, but this doesn’t mean that the company has forgotten about its other products.

Next week, the PSN, or Sony Entertainment Network, as it will be known in the future, is set to go down for some planned maintenance.

As such, the service goes offline on Thursday, March 1, from 4pm GMT until Friday, March 2, at 7am GMT.

During this time you won’t be able to access the PSN, meaning you can’t login or view the PlayStation Store, while new PS3 or PS Vita owners won’t be able to register for new accounts.

As of yet, it seems that this PSN maintenance period is only valid for European users, but expect some more details to appear next week.
