Bad news for PlayStation 3, PSP or PlayStation Vita owners, as Sony will take down its PlayStation Network later today for some planned maintenance in North America.

The PSN has been growing strong lately, with more and more users registering for the online service in order to take advantage of the multiplayer feature, as well as to buy digital titles from the PlayStation Store.

Sadly, they won't be able to access the service later today, as Sony has confirmed that the PSN is going down for a round of planned maintenance.

As such, on Monday, April 16, between 6am PDT / 9am EDT and 7pm PDT / 10pm EDT, the service will go offline.

During this time, you won't be able to play online or access things like the PS Store, PS Home, or account management.

Hopefully, this maintenance will conclude faster and PS3 owners will be able to go back online as soon as possible.
