"...user-generated content in HD, showcasing PS3's multimedia capabilities to the full..."

Official UK PlayStation Magazine is going to give PS3 fans and owners (practically whoever buys the magazine) Blu-ray discs containing nothing but the newest stuff launching on Sony's next-gen console, starting June this year. Given that a Blu-ray disc is good for 25 GB of storage, gamers will most likely be able to get only the best content in HD format, whether it's demos, full games, trailers and much more. As NextGeneration posts today, Ray Maguire, managing director of Sony Computer Entertainment UK stated:

"We are very excited to partner with Future to offer a playable Blu-ray disc to UK PlayStation 3 owners. The high capacity of Blu-ray media is the perfect method to distribute large volumes of unique existing, and user-generated content in HD, showcasing PS3's multimedia capabilities to the full." As for the Publisher of Official PlayStation Magazine, Matt Pierce also added that the "...Offical PlayStation Magazine will deliver to its readers a monthly playable disc, and the world's first cover mounted Blu-ray disc."

But what exactly will gamers be getting if all they have right now are a few titles that barely fit in the good-next-gen-game category, not to mention that they're quite pricey. I guess that Blu-ray disc and content will be free of charge, just like any respectable gaming magazine, but that doesn't leave much content to be distributed then huh? News, trailers and other "juicy" stuff on the PS3 can be found just as easy on the Internet and don't tell me that PS3 owners don't have a PC and an Internet connection. If they paid $600 for the console, they have a PC for sure. Let's just wait and see, anyway. I might be wrong.
