Sony's social channel looks an awful lot like the Second Life PC sim

Phil Harrison's presentation at the GDC revealed a lot of what PlayStation Home will be all about, when it releases along with the European launch of the PS3. The thing is that the PlayStation Home service may prove to be just another "porn gateway." Even if the service's purpose isn't to access easily sex related stuff, it will be possible. Features like 'Realistic avatars' and 'Private spaces' make it sound like it's more than possible actually.

Some would say that Sony's new social channel looks a lot like Second Life, this being the main reason why sex related suspicions have started to arise. So, again, even if Sony didn't have any "naughty" intentions with their channel, people will always find a way use something like this for getting sexy content. Also, PlayStation's Home service will allow users to share entertainment content they have created, so it's only going to need a small spark to light up the big flame.

The service mainly works like this: it allows users to create and develop online identities (otherwise known as avatars) as they move through a 3D world along with other subscribers to the service; gamers will collect 'trophies' and other goodies from PS3 games and add them to their Home world. It also allows users to download video and audio files. It does sound a lot like Second Life, doesn't it?
