The team in charge of the PlayStation 4 at Sony is announcing that all those who are interested in picking up tickets for the PlayStation Experience can do so now in order to make sure that they will be able to attend the major event that will take place on December 6 and 7.

The site is open for gamers all over the world, but they will also have to make sure that they are able to get to Las Vegas, where the company has created a large area where video games can be played, panels can be attended, developers will talk with fans and sign memorabilia, and giveaways for exclusives will take place.

The team at Sony explains on the official blog that “Over the course of the next six weeks, stay tuned to PlayStation.Blog and PlayStation.com for details on panel times, participating publishers, playable games, and PlayStation Experience collectibles!”

The Las Vegas-based PlayStation Experience is a way for Sony to connect with its fan base and to generate some momentum for the PlayStation 4 as the very important Christmas shopping season draws near.

The next-gen war is far from decided at the moment

Sony is spending money and time to create the event because it wants to make sure that those who bought its home consoles and the titles associated with them feel valued and continue to be loyal in the long term.

At the moment, the PlayStation 4 is performing better than expected and has managed to get past the 10 million units milestone worldwide.

But the Xbox One from Microsoft continues to be a worthy rival and there are reports saying that the month-to-month gap between the two is getting narrower.

Rumors have suggested that Microsoft might cut the price of its platform by 50 dollars or Euro right before December rolls around, and Sony might be forced to respond with a reduction of its own.

Christmas is very important for both companies and the coming weeks might also bring more announcements about special bundles including high-profile and exclusive titles.

Nintendo is also betting that the launch of Super Smash Bros. for the Wii U will make its own home console more interesting and promotes it as a direct competitor for the coming months.

All companies are expected to celebrate their performances in January and offer hints about how their platforms will evolve in 2015.
