The PlayStation 4 version of the free-to-play Warframe was created with plenty of support from Sony, the creator of the next-gen gaming platform.

Steve Sinclair, the creative director of Digital Extremes, tells GamesIndustry.biz that, “They approached us, and they’ve been really, really good to us, helping us get more dev kits than they wanted to give us.”

Warframe also benefited from the fact that Sony included its game in its E3 2013 line-up and allowed players to get hands-on time with it.

The fact that a free-to-play title is running on the PlayStation 4 allowed the team to get more exposure for it than during the period when the PC was the only platform.

Warframe has been playable since March 25 on the PC and will be offered on the PS4 soon after launch.
