The team will use the console to create more expansive game levels

Christophe Carrier, a leading designer working at Arkane Studios, says that he is pleased with the PlayStation 4 reveal and wants to take advantage of the 8 GB of RAM that Sony is including in its new console.

The developer, who has worked on last year’s Dishonored, tells Eurogamer, “We need memory, you know? As a level designer we are struggling against memory every day. We cut things, we remove things, we strip things, we split the levels, we remove NPCs from levels because there’s not enough memory.”

He adds, “So knowing that memory is something that is going to be improved in the next generation of consoles: to us, it’s a joy. It’s something that we were waiting for. We were PC gamers at the beginning.”

Christophe Carrier says that the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 already have enough processing power to support experiences like Dishonored, but memory was always a problem and forced teams to adapt the games.

Dishonored has taken home the Best Game award from the British Academy of Film and Television Arts.

Previous statements from Arkane suggest that Dishonored will become a franchise in the near future, which might mean that a sequel might arrive on the PlayStation 4 from Sony and on the Xbox 720 from Microsoft.

Dishonored put gamers in the stealthy boots of Crovo, a master assassin who was framed for a crime he did not commit and is forced to redeem his name by assassinating high level targets that are part of a conspiracy.

The game focused on freedom, allowing players to move around without being noticed or simply go in guns blazing and engage in sword fights with guards, using an array of items and powers.

All player actions influenced the game world and the ending of the game was modified based on how much violence was used.
