Tony Bartel, the president of specialist retail chain GameStop, is sure that neither Sony nor Microsoft is actively working on systems that will ban the use of pre-owned games on the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox 720.

The executive does not have insider information but he is quoted by VG247 as saying that the move would not make sense from en economic perspective.

Bartel says, “used games generate more than $1 billion of trade credit annually, 70 percent of which is credited towards purchasing new games and new hardware.”

A recent survey also shows that about 60% percent of players would not be interested in picking up the PlayStation 4 or the Xbox 720 if they banned second-hand game use.

The PlayStation 4 was revealed during a late February event in New York, and Microsoft is expected to show off its next-gen consoles in late April.
